In case you’re asking, I take a few minutes each day to read a some chapters of my current books. This month I finished Art, Inc. by Lisa Congdon and I Just Like to Make Things by Lilla Rogers. Both are amazing and have different approach about art and business. If you are on the lookout for some quality art and business books to read and inspire you, these 2 are highly recommended.
With Art Inc., Lisa talks about the ins and outs of having a business with your art. The book contains all the information you need specially when you are just starting up, from making your art to sharing, copyrighting and selling it. It also has a ton of interviews from successful artists and entrepreneurs, where you can get inspiration and motivation. Lisa has inspired a lot of artists and what I love about her is that she’s very unconventional. Even my kids love her art and they watch her classes too! I got this book to learn and it certainly did not disappoint.
Lilla’s book is just as amazing as her. She is very inspirational and you won’t see an inch of negativity around her. She is extremely passionate about art and she represents totally amazing artists. I’m her student and I can’t be more proud. Her book tackles more about process and the different markets where you can sell and/or license your work. It also has artist interviews which you will find very inspirational. This is the book that got me to work harder.
The Art of Choosing and Start With Why are part of my reading goals this month. Hopefully, my little one will get to sleep earlier so I can have my evenings dedicated to reading.I will let you know more about the last 2 books when I’m done.
What about you? What are your favorite books? Would you mind sharing them with me? I’d really appreciate some good non-business, non-art, non-design ones too!
