You may have probably seen the sneak I posted yesterday. So, yes, i terribly miss paper scrapbooking. I never knew this day would come. I have been 80% digital since I’ve devoted my free time to scrapbooking in 2007. I did both paper and digi then but gave up on paper. I became a full time digital designer in 2009 and eventually evolved in digi alone. When I was introduced to Project Life in 2011, I haven’t had a thought of doing it using real journal cards and embellishments. However, when Alphonse was born last year I decided I want to document his first year with us using the “real” thing. Hence, I came back to paper. And soon, this happened.
I stumble upon Studio Calico’s blog last Sunday and saw a layout by Maggie Holmes. It was a delight to look at her page because it is simple and very elegant. I am a clusterer in digi but with real stuffs, I prefer simplicity. So I decided to join the challenge and got my own take on the sketch. Here are the details of how I did it.
The moment I saw the sketch I already knew what to do so I cut 1 paper using scissors for an irregular cut. I adhered the longest paper at the base and the other 2 papers on top of it.
I do not want a perfectly centered photo so I put it on top of the papers just a little over to the left of my base. The transparency on top of the photo is just perfect.
I tucked the doily just behind the photo.
Added a few more embellishments
The cloud patterned paper is so beautiful but I wanted those clouds on this page so I cut a portion and cut each clouds and adhered them just slightly above the layers using a thick double sided adhesive for a pop up effect. Added my journal using my own handwriting. Feels good.
And because I’m very happy with my latest layout, expect that I’ll be sharing more! I’m no expert on paper though but I’ll share everything to you as I go along the way.
